Make Sure You Bring the Right Vehicle for Pickup

Planning ahead for pickup day is one of the most important things you can do to ensure a smooth experience. That starts with bringing the right vehicle for the lots you’ve won.

✅ We’ll Help Load — But It Has to Be Safe

Our team is equipped with forklifts, moffetts, and other tools to help get your items safely into your vehicle. We do our best to load efficiently and securely — but only when it can be done safely.

If your vehicle isn’t suitable for the size or weight of your items, we may refuse to load it.
Examples include:

  • Trying to load large decking bundles onto the roof of a small car

  • Transporting a pallet of topsoil in a vehicle not rated for the weight

  • Forcing awkward items like a shower enclosure into a tight trunk or backseat

If we determine your vehicle is not safe to load, you may be asked to:

  • Return with a different vehicle

  • Make multiple trips

  • Sign a waiver if the situation poses a liability risk

We are not responsible for damage to your vehicle if you insist on loading something it clearly cannot support.

⚠️ Weight Adds Up Quickly

Many materials are heavier than they look. For example:

  • Composite decking is surprisingly dense

  • Shower enclosures should remain upright and on their pallets

  • Topsoil can weigh significantly more after rainy weather

It’s your responsibility to ensure your vehicle or trailer can handle the load safely — both during transport and legally on the road.

🪢 Bring the Right Supplies

While we’ll help load your lots, you are responsible for securing them.
We strongly recommend bringing:

  • Ratchet straps

  • Rope

  • Tarps

  • Any tiedowns needed to keep your materials from shifting, sliding, or falling off during transport

We do not provide straps or tie-down materials at the pickup site.

⏱️ Plan for Timing

If your vehicle isn’t suitable and staff need to move on to help other customers, you may need to wait for availability later — or return after retrieving a better-suited vehicle.

Summary

To make pickup day safe and stress-free:

  • Use a truck, van, or trailer that fits your lot(s)

  • Don’t underestimate the weight or size of building materials

  • Bring straps or tie-downs to secure your load

  • Ask yourself: Would I feel confident driving on the highway with this load?

If the answer isn’t a clear yes, it’s probably time to rethink your pickup plan.
