What is a “Soft Close” in Our Auctions?

1 min. readlast update: 08.06.2025

We use a Soft Close system to help make the auction fair and give everyone a chance to place their final bids.

Here’s how it works:

  • Lots don’t all close at once. Instead, they begin closing one at a time, usually starting at 7:00 PM, with a 10-second gap between each lot.

  • If someone places a bid within the last 2 minutes of a lot closing, that lot’s countdown resets to 2 minutes.

  • This gives other bidders a chance to respond—just like a real auctioneer giving “fair warning.”

  • A lot will only officially close after 2 full minutes pass with no new bids.

This system helps prevent last-second “sniping” and gives everyone a fair shot at winning the items they want.
